The winners of Travelers’ Choice 2014

I have to tell you how proud we are today, because TripAdvisor just announced who are the winners on Travelers’ Choice 2014 in the category „B&Bs and Inns“.

Last year, 2013 we made the third place over Iceland in this category, but now Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse is the winner number one 2014 over Iceland.
This makes us very glad and excited and tells us we must have been doing our homework!
To all our wonderful guests I want to say, thank you for coming and staying with us at Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse.

Enjoy your weekend.

A beautiful day in Mosfellsdalur

The scenery from our farm today was as it can be most beautiful, or maybe as a picture on a postcard, that has been fixed  in Photoshop!
Last night it snowed for hours in calm weather. This morning we meassured 22 cm. deep snow all over. The weather today has been bright sunny, calm day.

It was a day that calls you out for a walk to be able to enjoy the beauty thoroughly.

We have been enjoying the Northern Lights many evenings lately  and our guests have been thrilled.
Most of them have never seen them before, so they really get excited.

On my walk today I took the pictures I attach with this blog.

Until next

Best greetings

Happy New Year

Happy New Year  to all our guests, friends and relatives.

The year 2013 was a very good year for us at Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse.  We worked all year on different projects to make the stay for our guests more enjoyable  and comfortable.

In april we did major changes on the common guest area. We put in new sliding glass door and a balcony.  Now our guests love to sit at the dining table and enjoy the beautiful view over our valley, as well as being able to sit and communicate with other guests.

All summer we worked on the outdoor area.  We put up a wonderful hot tub that is very popular to use in the evenings after day long excursions.

In the spring we will take in use outdoor shower and WC.

At Christmas when it was snowing  a lot, the wind was blowing  and all roads were closed our guests loved to relax in the hot tub for hours!

We try to let our guests feel like home and part of it is to talk to them and inform about interesting things to do due to different time of the year.

We show them the weather/road conditions, even stop them to do things that could get them into difficulties.

We offer to try different Icelandic specialties when I have something like that in the house. Our Christmas food like hangikjöt (smoked leg of lamb), flatkökur ( flatbread), harðfisk (dry fish), hákarl (pickled  shark) and brennivín , skötu (skate with hot melted lamb fat) and different baking  goods we offered over the holidays.  Some  of this was well liked but to tell the truth some less liked like the skate and the pickeled shark!!

Hákarl and brennivín!

Hákarl and brennivín!

Next months  we are expecting lots of guests and now we get each day requests for the spring and summer season so we are looking a lot forward to enjoy the coming year with our guest, friends and family.

Now is the time of the Northern Lights. One of our guests took this beautiful picture in our back yard in December.
